Writing a book as a necessary processing step

Since I began my “free flight”, I’ve been very transparent here.

My follower list is growing, I’m getting better at writing and understanding publishing and creating. Networking is insane.

Starting off like crazy with a startup to pull the brakes on it when things started going out of hand and against my own values and interests.

While doing all of that I’ve been throwing my book together – and this book is something I needed to do to move forward.

You see, I went from a neurotic drug & booze addict to a highly organised (mostly sane and healthy acting) sober person. The trouble started when I was born and really escalated when I moved to Berlin. Immigration is not a good match for a mentally struggling 20 year old.

So… Writing this book summarises my learnings, my haunting painful topics, how I overcame them and got to where I am today, which is mostly happy, free and fearless.

And if I help at least one person (I’m thinking FLINTA with immigration experience as my audience for this book) I’ll happily retire. Kidding, I’ll need more cash for that.

Why this book? Emotional intelligence when I was born was… something different.

Many of us Millennials had to grow up fast. Our parents hardly had resources to help and create an atmosphere of safety and love so we had to… figure it out ourselves. Autonomy was praised while being vulnerable and standing up for your needs were punished.

Also, Millennials were told in their families that being smart (hard skills) is the most important skill of all. Soft skills were left for those “hippie” professions. Soft skills were also considered quite hippie, meaning most of us did not get access to proper self-understanding and connection to our bodies, needs and emotions practices.

This book is a very crucial detour (or rather, one of the key requirements for me to move forward and let go, process). I’ll be writing a lot about this.
